Example on a fictitious productThe product and its energy data are made up to show what a report looks like. The calculation is done by the real engine, with the real sources.

Sample report: crew-neck sweater

Sweater in recycled wool and polyamide, 320 g. Deliberately incomplete: it also shows the missing data and how to obtain it.

Energy per garment. If you only know a department's yearly total, divide it by the garments produced.

Transport

Only the legs between production stages, up to the factory that makes the garment. Delivery to shops is not included.

How this report gets completed

A partial report is not a failure: it says exactly what is missing and whom to ask. For this sweater:

  1. Polyamide. There is no reliable open data. Ask the yarn supplier for the EPD or a fibre footprint declaration and enter the value as supplier data.
  2. Garment making. The workshop's energy use is missing. The department's yearly kWh divided by the garments produced that year is enough.
  3. Dyeing gas. The factor is marked "to verify": it must be checked against the original document before using the report with a customer.
  4. Transport. Confirm the actual legs between spinning, knitting and making.
